Understanding Public and Money
The Phillies have been one of the streakiest teams in baseball this season. They tend to either go on long winning or losing streaks and just haven't quite been able to put everything together, however they appear to be pointed in the right direction. They are as healthy as they have been all season, their two aces have pitched well recently after both struggled to start the year, and their potent lineup appears to have come alive. It was certainly a welcome sight to see Trea Turner go 4-5 and hit a pair of home runs yesterday. Tonight they will face Tigers pitcher Tyler Alexander tonight who will be making his first start this season and is sporting a 6.38 ERA.
This has come down to the point where I guess we have to take it as the Tigers will use Tyler Alexander (6.38 ERA) as an opener and then Garrett Hill (10.29 ERA) as the bulk guy behind him. Have to think the Phils tee off on both. The reason this isn't near -250 is because Taijuan Walker (4-3, 5.65) starts for the Phillies. Walker has a 3.60 ERA in four at home, though. Phils star Trea Turner may have broken out of his season-long slump with a monster game in Monday's win.
We got burned last night by Aaron Nola looking like Aaron Nola again and the Tigers looking like, well, the Tigers. Taijuan Walker has not had a good season thus far, and the power lurking under the surface of Detroit's uninspiring lineup should get a chance to take center stage. Again, the Phillies should win here, but the Tigers have a good shot at keeping it close. Detroit is covering in 61% of my model's simulations.
